ASSIGNMENT 2 ENGLISH 102

Meggie Besaw
Assignment 2
English 102

While reading the essay I though they were trying to show how a dull guideline research paper can become interesting and out of the box. The essay talks about how often research papers teach the act of producing as effortlessly as possible because you tend not to have to think out of the box as much. Research papers use to have one way of writing them with a set of certain guidelines you have to follow. I know at least for me if I had no way of making a paper some how little my own that I would easily lose interest and not put as much effort into it.
The rest of the essay shows how research papers broadened through the years. Argumentative, personal, essay research, and multi genre/media/disciplinary/culture research are all the different type of research papers you can write. The essay explains the different ways that allows students to embrace a research paper so that they put more effort into the paper. People use research papers to follow questions they have about a topic to help them understand it more.  First year college students tend to have to write a research paper in the first year English and students are likely to come across a research paper in other classes.
After reading the essay I find their way of writing essay papers seems more interesting and helped me feel more comfortable with the idea. I like the idea of being able to put a little of my own uniqueness into it so besides my topic it will be different from everybody’s. My ideas about research have changed completely! I was didn’t understand much of research papers and I was not very excited to learn and create a research paper this semester. After reading this essay I’ve realized a research paper can be unique and you can use a topic that is meaningful or interesting to you.

Assignment 1 part 2

Meggie Besaw
Section 094
Assignment #1

The paper from my point of view is arguing about how teenagers and young adults are looked at as rebellious. The paper shows who looks down on them and why they are perceived to be rebellious. In the paper the writer talks a lot about the media and the influence it has on everybody but especially young adults. When I read this I don't think of it as much of a research paper because when I think of research papers i think of a topic about a specific person and not as interesting so the paper surprised me. The writer looks up quotes from different people and uses examples and you have to research this topic to write the paper and understand why. I was really surprised that this was a research paper because I am not usually interested in research papers and they are usually a little more dull then other types of papers. I think that this paper was written differently then the norm research papers I’ve read and I was a lot more interested in it.
I felt as if she wrote a little bit of her opinion in it and I didn’t think you could write your opinion in a research paper. I think you felt like that because you can write a research paper using all positives about the topic or negatives depending on how you feel about the topic. If you want to right a great research paper you have to put in all the information you know about it weather you agree to it or not.
