English 102 Assignment 5

Meggie Besaw
English 102
Assignment 5

I decided to come up with two completely different questions then some of the others I jotted down before. It was really hard for me to come up with good questions for my research paper but last class really helped me. I never knew a question could matter so much but i realized it’s the base of your paper and what you go off of. You have to make sure the question has a lot of meat to it, a question that you can write a lot about and something you yourself are interested in. The two questions I was left with were. "Are there different ways students can live a healthier lifestyle?" And "How can past relationships change your view on love?” I am more interested in the second question and would much rather do that one but the first question i think might be better for this class. I think it has more solid facts and information that can back the question up where the second question may be more of an opinion. If my heart is set on the second question i think that some how i can change it a little so that it is a more solid based question and has more solid facts that can back up the question. Compared to my questions from the assignment a while ago i think I've made some progress and i also understand what kind of questions we are looking for.
The source I used was the UWM online library article search. I looked up "past relationships and love" under sociology. I got a variety of different types of articles. I found love on different cultures, ages, and I found a really great article that would work awesome for my paper. It was on love and how the positive ways it affects you but also the negative ways. It explains different reason why you feel the way you do about love.
I'd use this source because not only does it have one article but also several articles love but they all are a little different and most go a long with the topic I'm trying to get at in my research paper. I defiantly will be looking into the library books and online sources because they are easy to cite look at and i feel more confident about the information they state.

  1. Hi, Meggie

I think that this is actually a great research question, because it does allow you to explore ideas from psychology and sociology, as well as biology (are we biologically programmed to love other people? Or are there biological aspects to different types of love?), as well as the media's influence on love and our perceptions of it. You could EVEN look into how social networking-- and what we learn/know from others-- might change our experiences with love. Or something.

    Nice work!
